Why preserve open space?

  • To preserve some of the rural character that has attracted so many residents to come live in our Town
  • To preserve property of historic significance in the Town of East Fishkill
  • To provide land for passive recreation – hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and if land includes significant bodies of water, fishing, canoeing, or kayaking as appropriate
  • To preserve our connection with the natural world by protecting the habitats of native flora and fauna, especially taking into consideration endangered species, species of special concerns, and wildlife corridors
  • To protect wetlands which serve as filtration for our aquifers and groundwater
  • To provide scenic, tranquil, and noise-free islands amid the rush and bustle of our busy lives

And more……..
